How to find companies to prospect in Algeria

The five sources you can actually use to build a B2B prospecting list in Algeria, what each one gives you, and what it does not.

In Algeria, the hard part is not knowing who to approach. It is getting a phone number that rings and an address that still exists. Most sales teams we meet work from an Excel file inherited from a former colleague, and nobody knows where it came from or when it was put together.

This guide walks through the sources that are genuinely available, and their limits.

1. The commercial register (CNRC)

The National Centre of the Commercial Register lists registered companies. It is the most exhaustive source on the legal existence of a business: corporate name, legal form, declared activity, wilaya.

What it gives you: legal existence and declared activity.

What it does not give you: a usable contact. A company registered in 2016 with "wholesale trade" as its declared activity tells you nothing about what it sells today, who to talk to, or which number to call.

That is the classic trap of a purchased file: plenty of rows, very few connected calls.

2. Business directories

Pages Jaunes Algérie and sector directories often provide a phone number and an address. Their weakness is age: a listing that the company has never claimed can sit unchanged for years.

Our advice: never treat a directory listing as truth. Treat it as a lead to cross-check.

3. Company websites

This is the most reliable and the most neglected source. A company that maintains its website generally maintains its contact page. An email found on the official site is far more likely to be valid than an email guessed from a firstname.lastname@ pattern.

The limit: in Algeria, a large share of small and mid-sized businesses have no website. In some sectors you will cover a third of your target, no more.

4. Business mapping services

Location listings often carry an up-to-date phone number, because customers or the company itself correct them. They are especially useful for retail and for any business with a storefront.

The limit: little or no email, and very uneven coverage depending on the wilaya.

5. LinkedIn

Useful for identifying the right person — the manager, the head of purchasing — but not for obtaining a direct means of contact. In Algeria, LinkedIn adoption remains concentrated in certain sectors and in Algiers.

The real work is not collection, it is cross-checking

None of these sources is enough on its own. Each is incomplete in a different way, and that is precisely what makes them complementary: when the same number appears on the company's official website and on its location listing, the odds that it rings are far higher than for a number seen only once.

That is the principle Linkiw is built on. We collect from public and legal sources — professional registers, business mapping services, companies' own official websites — then we cross-check every record across those sources and display a reliability score.

Let us be precise about what that score is and what it is not: it measures the convergence of sources, not the verified validity of a number. We do not call the numbers and we do not send test emails. A high-scoring record is one where several independent sources say the same thing. That is a far better bet than a row from a purchased file — it is not a guarantee.

We would rather tell you before you spend a credit than let you find out on the tenth call.

What to remember

  • The commercial register gives you existence, not contact details.
  • Directories give you leads, to be cross-checked every time.
  • Official websites are the most reliable source, but they cover a minority of small businesses.
  • One contact confirmed by two independent sources beats ten contacts seen once.

If you would rather not rebuild that chain by hand, Linkiw does it by sector and by wilaya, and shows you the score before charging you anything.
